Hiab Al Zaman wins $100,000 President of the UAE Cup series for Purebred Arabians in Maryland

The reigning Horse of the Year, Hiab Al Zaman; the 2018 winner of the race and Horse of the Year, won the $100,000 President of the UAE Cup series for the Purebred Arabians (G1) – America’s richest Arabian race of the year, which was staged at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland, on Sunday, on one of horse racing’s biggest days, Preakness Stakes Day.

Owned by Susan C and James E. Meyer, Hiab Al Zaman, an Arabian horse born in the United States of America in 2017, is trained by Jeremias Castro and ridden by Carol Cedeno.

Over 100,000 fans watched the (G1) 1770-metre race, the second leg of the 29th edition of the prestigious President of the UAE Cup series for the Purebred Arabians.

The 2022 calendar consists of 15 races across Europe, Middle East and North Africa and the United States of America.

The races, a legacy of the late Founding Father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, aim to promote the bloodlines, heritage and identity of Arabian horses globally.

The 29th edition of the President of the UAE Cup got underway at the French Guineas at the ParisLongchamp Racecourse on 15th May.

Presented by the UAE Ministry of Presidential Affairs, the UAE President Cup Series is the longest-running Arabian race series in the world. It began in 1994 and was the first series to visit France, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Ireland, Morocco, Egypt, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Turkey, UAE, Russia, and the United States. In 2022, its world tour includes France, USA, Tunisia, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Belgium, Russia, Germany, United Kingdom, Libya, Netherlands, Egypt, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia.
